Štemberger: Vitovska 2019

This wine (we feel) is emblematic of the orange wines of the Karst region. Tropical notes which you often find in an orange wine, but with a fantastic structure and an almost enveloping bouquet that could easily stand up to anything spicy like curries, kimchi, chili sauces, or wild game even. That said, it is not too strong to go with things like grilled fish or aged cheese. Floral, honeyed, dried mango and apricot, a touch of orange pith oil, this is a reference example of how to make an 'orange' wine. Not overwhelming to the ultra dry wine, the tannin assists to structure and bring a fullness on the palate, with an exceptional finish (even going so far as to be a bit oily, without being fatty).
