  • What makes this wine special? Seductive aromas of gooseberry, elderflower and kiwi, pleasantly toned down and complemented by an elegant mineral finish, as Zdeněk Vykoukal does not use any additives to kickstart the fermentation. Incredibly fresh and crisp for years to come thanks to the crown cap that keeps the wine's youthful energy!

Stará Hora Vineyard, loess on limestone rich in marine fossils.

How the wine is made

The grapes are destemmed and macerated on skins for two days. The wine fermented spontaneously (=only natural yeast, no artificial yeast added) in an old acacia barrel, and then aged for 10 months on fine lees in a stainless steel tank. Bottled without fining or filtration, and with a minimal addition of sulfur.

Meet the winemaker

Zdeněk is a die-hard heavy metal fan (he even plays guitar in a local band), but his wines are more like a classic symphony: elegant, intricate, and full of beautiful details.

His vines thrive on the unique limestone soils of Austerlitz, Czech Republic, a small town famous for the formidable Napoleonic battle fought there in 1805.
